Brooklyn Square Pizza, 3 Locations in New Jersey

Brooklyn Square Pizza is a pizza restaurant that has locations throughout New Jersey, one in Manalapan, one in Jackson and one in Tom's River. My dad saw somebody give this pizza place a very high review so we decided to order takeout from here one night. We ordered 3

different pizzas, their Brooklyn Square, a cheese pizza with mushroom and onion and, a pizza without cheese and with mushroom and onion (my usual go-to pizza). The Brooklyn Square pizza is their signature pizza, having a thick crust with mozzarella and Pecorino Romano cheese topped with their homemade tomato sauce. I usually prefer a thinner crust pizza to a thicker crust but this pizza is an exception. The thick crust supported the generous amount of cheese and sauce that sat on top rather than overwhelm the pizza. The ratio of cheese and sauce to dough was very good and I was not overwhelmed by the amount of crust. I did not try the cheese pizza with onion and mushroom so I am unable to assess the quality of it, but if it was anything like the cheeseless pizza with mushroom and onion then I'm sure it was exquisite. The cheeseless pizza had decadent amounts of fresh mushroom

and caramelized onions. Sometimes when I get pizza with onions the onions are crunchy rather than soft, these onions were the perfect texture, they were soft enough to bite right through without having a crunch. The mushrooms were also cooked to perfections and added something extra to the pizza. A cheeseless pizza can sometimes be very bland, the pizza was far from bland. The homemade tomatoes sauce provided it was a beautiful garlic and rich tomato flavor. The pizza crust was also rolled in sesame seeds which helped to enhance the flavor. I cannot speak on the obnianous of the restaurant since we ordered takeout but what I can say is there was a line out the door of people waiting to pick up their food. The line did move rather fast but the restaurant does not offer curbside if that works better for you. Overall I would rate this restaurant a score of 9/10, it was great pizza and if I find myself near any of the location I would be sure to eat from there again.
