My all time favorite type of cake is red velvet, so when I heard about the website Gold Belly and how you can get any baked good from around the country delivered to your doorstep I knew I had to try it. I spent a while browsing the website, coming across baked goods from iconic spots all around the country such as Carlos' Bakery and Magnolia Bakery, but one cake caught my eye. When looking at my options for red velvet cake I spotted one labeled Oprah's Favorite Cake, which was sold by Carousel Cakes, and I thought that if it is Oprah's favorite cake it must be good so I ordered the cake for my birthday. Let's just say this cake was amazing! The cake arrived at my house about four days after ordering it, it came packaged nicely in a box filled with dry ice to

keep the cake fresh. I was very pleased by this packaging method because when I got the cake it was not stale. I left the cake out to thaw in the afternoon for about five hours so it would be ready to eat after dinner. The cake itself was divine. The cake was moist with a light chocolate flavour. I appreciated how the cake was not too rich yet I was still able to taste the chocolate. The frosting was the best part, it had a bold cream cheese flavor (my favorite) and complimented the cake very nicely. There was also the perfect amount of frosting, I feel as though a lot of the time bakeries tend to overly lather the cake in frosting, but this was not the case. There was the absolute perfect amount of frosting between each layer and around the cake so I was able to get some frosting in every bite. Although I cannot speak of the environment or service at Carousel Cakes bakery itself I can say that my process ordering via Gold Belly was very seamless (a perfect outlet for purchasing baked goods in the COVID-19 era) and the cake was not to pricey at $49 for the whole cake. Overall I would rate this cake and my experience with Gold Belly a 9/10 and would definitely recommend trying it out!
